Nazuna (なずな) is a freshman who enters Yamabuki High School and moves into the Hidamari Apartments during Yuno and Miyako's second year at the complex. She has befriended the other Hidamari tenants and become a close friend of fellow freshman Nori.
Nazuna was introduced in the July 2008 issue of Manga Time Kirara Carat and in Hoshimittsu, the third season of the anime.
Physical Description[]
Nazuna has pale blonde short hair braided in the back and eyes of a golden hue. Nazuna is comparably shorter than Nori and she occasionally slouches when walking. She goes around with a shy face, but later grows out of it. Her voice of equal shy-pitch, however, stays like that.
Character Specialties[]
Nazuna grew up in the neighborhood surrounding Yamabuki High School. However, when her father was transferred to Aichi Prefecture for work, her mother followed him and left Nazuna alone.
Unlike the rest of the cast, Nazuna is not particularly gifted in art. She is the first General Studies student to move into Hidamari Apartments, breaking the tradition of residents all belonging to the Art Department. The one class project she was assigned that required her to do artwork ended in disaster, and at one point she produced an attempted portrait of the Landlady that was unrecognizable as her subject (and barely recognizable as a human being).
Nazuna was initially inept at cooking, but with the help of Yuno and Hiro, she learned to prepare a few dishes such as fried chicken.
Social Demeanor[]
Nazuna is a sensitive character, lacking self-confidence and being generally reserved. It is only through time at the Hidamari Apartments that she begins to develop more confident and energy, much like Yuno. When Nazuna is more familiar with her friends and in the midst of an activity, she would rather talk to Nori and the others than do what is needed.
Her belief that she has no talents tends to bother the other residents. Nori in particular will try to improve her image of herself and convince her to be more self-assertive.
She has good intentions and is polite whenever interacting with others. She does not like being disliked, as she expresses her concern as her shy personality attracts many boys and this, in turn, attracts the jealousy of many girls. In private, and with those she is closest to, she will bemoan that she seems to lack any talent at all, making her feel inadequate.
Miscellaneous[]
- Nazuna's personality makes her a magnet for boys, who are always willing to help her with her class cleaning duties. The manga is silent on whether she has actually been asked out on dates, or whether she has any interest in them.
- Her birthday is on April 7th.
- She thrashes wildly about in bed, much to Nori's annoyance on her occasional sleepovers. This is one of the first things Nori mentions when introducing her to new neighbor Matsuri.
